The world's largest democracy and second most populous country has emerged as a major power in the world, with one of the world’s fastest growing economies.  India is also a nuclear weapons state in one of the most volatile regions on the globe.

How will India adjust to its new role on the world stage?  As India’s global prominence increases, how will India’s relations with the United States develop?  What will be the impact on the global marketplace, on trade, and cooperation in the fight against terrorism?  What are the prospects for a stable peace between India and Pakistan?

Ambassador Ronen Sen has served as India’s Ambassador to Mexico, Russia, and Germany, as well as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.  In addition, he was Joint Secretary in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs as well as Joint Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, responsible for Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Science & Technology.  He has been India’s Ambassador to the United States since August 2004.
