Global Affairs Interactive Network

Global Affairs Interactive Network (GAIN)
North Allegheny Senior High School students
discuss Turkey's role in the world with Gerald
Robbins of the Foreign Policy Research Institute.

The Global Affairs Interactive Network (GAIN), hosted by the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh in collaboration with South Side Area School District, is a ground-breaking teaching tool which brings world class speakers to students directly to their classrooms, or their iPods.

GAIN goes beyond the mortar and brick of the traditional classroom by enabling students to discuss pressing international issues with experts, and then engage in an online discussion with other students to further explore complex issues and important events. In collaboration with South Side Area School District.

GAIN can be used for in- and out-of-class assignments.  GAIN can be used as a discussion point, with teachers talking to their students about the topic, or students can blog assignments on the online message board.
